Last Weekend

Here is what we got done in the garden last weekend:

*Bought (and loaded) 19 tubs of compost from the city's composting site.
*Got the first half of the Three Sister planting area all ready to go.
*Started seeds for eggplants and cosmos.

A few of the tomato seed I planted 2 weekends ago are starting to pop up now, I think it should be about another week before the peppers start to show through. All of the marigolds have pretty much popped up. (I am using the marigolds as companion plants to go with the tomatoes). I also picked up 5 packs of flower seeds from Wal Mart for $.20 each so we will see what comes of those.

Also, this week I have been busy making planting containers out of newspaper so there will be larger pots to move the tomatoes and peppers into once they need some more room. I followed these directions, mostly anyway.

And lastly, I heard something about guerrilla gardening this week. Where basically gardeners take ugly, unused public (and private sometimes) land and turn it from an eyesore to a thing of beauty. That got me thinking... ;)

Here is a list of stuff that I need to do in the garden this weekend, weather permitting:

*Start the other half of the" Three Sisters" area
*Start digging up the area I plan on planting the Brassicas
*Dig up the area where the peas are going and build trellis
*Dig along the fence where the cucumbers are going
*Plant the berry vine we have in a plastic bag
